Enjoy a quiet space to focus and get things done – our study carrels offer the perfect environment for concentrated work. Whether you’re conducting in-depth research, studying for exams, or writing your thesis, these individual study cubicles provide the calm and focus you need.
Online Reservation
TUM students and staff members can conveniently book study carrels online:
- Log in to the reservation system with your TUM ID
- Select a time slot and submit your booking
- Receive a reservation confirmation by email
You will also receive a reminder email one day prior to your reservation's start time.
Availability
The University Library offers study carrels at the following branch libraries:

Check-in
For every online reservation, please check in at the branch library:
- Scan the QR code from the confirmation email at the check-in station.
- Check in separately for each time slot, even for consecutive bookings.
- Check-in is possible 30 minutes prior to the reservation time.
- Check-in must be completed within 48 hours.
Without check-in your reservation will be automatically canceled.

- Booking quota: 8 weeks per year.
- Minimum booking duration: 1 week, always starting on Monday.
- Your quota resets annually on 1st January at midnight.

- Reservations are non-transferable and may not be made on behalf of others.

- Online via the reservation system.
- Log in with your TUM ID.
- Book up to 3 months in advance – same-day reservations are also possible

- After 48 hours, if you do not show up or fail to check in.
- Expired reservations are not credited back to your booking quota.
What Should I Observe When Using a Study Carrel?
What Should I Observe When Using a Study Carrel?
- Doors of study carrels are not lockable.
- Others are allowed to use the carrel when you are absent.
- For short absences, we recommend using one of the library's break-time discs.
- Drinks are allowed in tightly sealed containers.
- No food or alcohol allowed.
- The University Library's House Rules apply.
