Under the auspices of the German Rectors' Conference, nation-wide licence agreements are being negotiated for e-journals of major scientific publishers (project DEAL). In anticipation of such an agreement, the licences for Elsevier journals were terminated at the TUM in due time at the end of 2016, in line with 200 other scientific institutions in Germany.
However, talks with Elsevier are proving difficult and so far no agreement on a new treaty has been reached. Negotiations are currently suspended.
Online access to back volumes of Elsevier journals
Not affected by the contract negotiations, TUM has acquired permanent archive rights to older volumes (until the end of 2016). All volumes that you can access at the TUM are listed in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB).
Free document delivery for for Elsevier articles
During the transitional period, the university library offers all staff members with TUM ID two free alternatives for the supply of Elsevier journals:
1. order via interlibrary loan
Order the necessary Elsevier article regularly via interlibrary loan. For employees with a TUM ID, we automatically pay for your interlibrary loan fee.
2. orders via SUBITO
In urgent cases, the document delivery service SUBITO is recommended. To use this, you must place your orders via a SUBITO subaccount. Please register online for such a subaccount at the University Library. Ordered items can only be delivered by fax or mail.
The university library covers the costs of both alternatives:
