Open access stands for the unrestricted access to scientific information on the Internet. With its Open Access Policy, the TUM invites all researches at the Technical University of Munich to publish their results open access and supports them in this endeavour with the following services:
Funding
Are you planning to publish in an open access journal? Then, the TUM Publishing Fund might cover your publishing fees. Even if cost coverage through the fund is not possible, you can benefit from author fee discounts, which TUM members obtain from certain publishers.
Publishing on mediaTUM
Do you want to make your publication which is already published in a licence-based journal freely available? The TUM's mediaTUM server offers you a platform for your secondary publication. Due to agreements between the TUM and publishers you can benefit from special conditions for self-archiving.
Licences
Are you looking for a suitable licence for publishing your works or providing research data and software? The University Library's handout on the publication of research data and software programs provides you an overview of Creative Commons licences and the most common Open Source software licences.
Predatory Journals and Conferences
Presentations at renowned conferences and publications in recognized journals are the currency of science. For you as a scientist it is crucial to make your research visible and to publish your findings. This is what dubious conference organizers and publishers try to exploit with fraudulent offers. Our checklists and consulting services will help you to assess the respectability of journals and conferences.
