Free document delivery for TUM researchers

Access to Current Elsevier Articles

Laptop mit Zeitschriftenstapel

A Germany-wide licence agreement between the publisher Elsevier and the Alliance of German Science Organisations – represented by the German Rectors' Conference – (Project DEAL(link is external)) has not been reached yet. During the transitional period, as long as the license negotiations are in progress and as long it is uncertain which of the current Elsevier articles are available online, you have the following options at TUM:

Access to current volumes (via EZB(link is external))
Elsevier has temporarily switched off access to current journal volumes at the TUM, but has since reactivated them in part – this is subject to reservations.

Access to back volumes (via EZB(link is external))
Unaffected by the licence negotiations, in any case access to back volumes published up to 2016 is available for all Elsevier journals previously licensed by TUM.

Free document delivery for Elsevier articles
In addition, the University Library offers you the possibility to order Elsevier articles free of charge via interlibrary loan or SUBITO. This service is open to all employees with a TUM ID. For more information on ordering options and eligibility, visit https://www.ub.tum.de/vorsorgung-elsevier-zeitschriften.

Alternative procurement channels for journal articles
The University Library provides you with around 40,000 scientific journals online via licence agreements. If you don't find an article at TUM, you often have alternative ways of obtaining scientific articles – often free of charge. An overview of different alternatives can be found at: https://www.ub.tum.de/alternative-wege-zu-zeitschriftenartikel
