The Südwestdeutsche Medienholding (SWMH), publisher of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, has fallen victim to a cyberattack. As a result, some features in the SZ LibraryNet portal are currently unavailable. Specifically affected are the navigation and access to the full-page view, which normally allows users to browse editions of the Süddeutsche Zeitung in their original newspaper layout.
Article search and full-text access remain fully available. However, these are presented without images or original layout formatting.
According to SWMH, unauthorized third parties were temporarily able to access the company’s internal network. The breach has since been contained, and the company is working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate and resolve the incident. Editorial coverage on digital platforms and print editions are not affected – all newspapers are being published as usual.
