Benefit from our university library even after your time at TUM.
We offer the most comprehensive service to alumni at our branch libraries in Munich, Garching, Weihenstephan and Straubing.
Borrowing
A library card is available free of charge in all branch libraries – whenever we are open. The validity period for alumni is unlimited. With your library card you can borrow books on site in all branch libraries or order them via the online catalogue OPAC to the TUM branch library of your choice. You can return the books in all branch libraries, no matter where you originally borrowed them.
Access to e-books, e-journals and databases
Log on to the computers in the reading rooms with your library number. Then you will have access to the Internet and our entire range of electronic media such as e-books, e-journals, databases and DIN standards. Remote access from outside the campus is not available to alumni.
Internet access with your own notebook is available in our branch library via eduroam or BayernWLAN. Access to our e-media collections is not possible via WLAN.
Guided tours and courses
What has changed in our library since your time at the TUM? What services we offer to alumni? We will be happy to show you this and much more during our after work library tours and in our courses.
And if you can't come to us...
Search the online catalogue OPAC for all books and journals available at TUM. You can use part of the library holdings directly online, such as freely accessible e-journals or electronic dissertations.
For the search for articles from scientific journals, we offer you numerous specialist databases. The database information system (DBIS) shows you which database is suitable for your subject. Many of the databases are freely available worldwide.
If you are interested in books or articles from our stock, please order them via interlibrary loan to the library in your home town. For ordering articles, especially outside Germany, we recommend the document delivery service subito.
Dissertations, collections of pictures and publications of institutes and chairs of the TUM can be found on mediaTUM, the media and publication repository of the TUM.
Tips for research or how to select the right database are shown in our library courses. You can find these e-courses or individual topics from them on our e-learning page.
If you have any questions, our first level hotline is there for you.
