Library from Home Office: We are available for you

Despite the temporarily shutdown of our branch libraries and most of our staff working from home office, we are still there for you. Take advantage of our various digital services. In our FAQ section we inform you about details and current developments:

FAQ Section

First Level Hotline, Online Consultations, Contacts

You can reach our First Level Hotline - as usual - Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. by e-mail, phone or chat.

We offer individual support in our online consultations on research strategies, literature search for students, reference management and citation as well as bibliometrics and impact. Just arrange your individual appointment.

Our teams in such areas as Subject Librarians, TUM University Press, Open Access, E-Dissertations, mediaTUM, Research Data Management, Acquisitions & Cataloguing, Public Services and Information Services are also available for you. Please contact us by e-mail.

E-Books, E-Journals and Databases

As a TUM member you can use our extensive range of e-books, e-journals and databases from your home office. For access, you only need to authenticate yourself with your TUM ID. In most cases, this is easily done via eAccess. On some platforms there are institutional logins with Shibboleth or personal registration is required.

Interlibrary Loan, Document Delivery, Scan Services, Digital Course Reserves

In order to replace the temporarily discontinued loan services, we are expanding our internal electronic document delivery service dokumenTUM starting 20 April 2020. We scan specialist articles and book chapters from our printed library holdings for TUM members and deliver them by e-mail as PDF files.

In addition, we offer TUM lecturers a scanning service for digital course reserves in Moodle.

From 21 April 21, interlibrary loan for copies of articles and book chapters will be available again. Due to an agreement with VG Wort, we are allowed to send you copies directly by e-mail until 31 May 2020.

Update: From 2 June 2020, our loan services will be available to you again.

Recommend Literature for Purchase

Our media acquistion is also continuing. In the current situation, we are trying to license required titles primarily as e-media and make them online available to you. Please send us your purchase recommendation via our web form.

For the preparation of upcoming courses, we offer TUM lecturers the accustomed service. If you need literature for your course, which should be available for several participants, please send us your textbook recommendations online.

E-Learning, Webinars, Virtual Library Tours

Although classroom courses are not available until further notice, you can participate in our online courses to get fit in such areas as literature search and provision, reference management, citation, publishing, research data management and bibliometrics. We offer you:

  • our entire course programme as webinars
  • e-courses on Moodle
