The TUM University Library provides access to over two million books and journals. We offer lending, scanning, and delivery services for our own library items as well as for materials not included in our collection. To use these services, you need a library account.

Obtain a library account

To borrow and order literature in the OPAC, you need a library account. If you are an active TUM member, an account is created for you automatically. Your TUM StudentCard, PersonalCard, or GuestCard serves as your library card. External users and TUM alumni can apply for free library card at our branch libraries.

Borrowing on site

In our branch libraries and textbook collections, you will find a wide range of literature freely accessible in open stacks. In addition to non-circulating reference materials, you will also find media that you can borrow on site.

Ordering from other branch libraries

Through our online catalog OPAC, you can order literature to the branch library of your choice, pick it up there at the circulation desk, and return it later at any of our branch libraries. The prerequisites for ordering are that the requested item is generally available for loan and is located in another branch library or in the library's closed stacks.

Ordering literature not available at TUM

Literature not in stock at the TUM or other local library, we can obtain for you via the interlibrary loan service. If the item is urgently required, you can use the fee-based document delivery service Subito or the TIB Document Delivery.

Scan service for papers and book chapters

Through dokumenTUM, our internal TUM document delivery service, TUM members can order scans of journal articles and book pages free of charge and have them conveniently delivered electronically.
