Courses around Good Scientific Practice and Open Science

Mastering Research and Publication Processes with Confidence

Drops fall onto the water surface and form waves.

The University Library offers numerous courses in the context of good scientific practice and open science to support you in your research and publication projects. The courses are aimed specifically at doctoral students and scientists of the TUM and are regularly offered in German and English.

Our practical courses teach you how to plan your research and publication process. Make sure that your author profile is consistent and easily searchable, that the research data you collect is structured and securely stored, and that your publications appear visible in renowned journals.

Our courses cover the following topics:

  • Literature research and procurement: selection of suitable research platforms, research strategy plan for your academic field, procurement of the literature found
  • Research data management: virtual research environment of the TUM (TUM Workbench), data management plan, guidelines, data storage and publication
  • Visibility and research impact: academic identity management and introduction to bibliometrics
  • Routes to publishing: publication process, open access, author rights
  • Predatory journals and conferences: Who else can you trust?

We also offer courses on how to cite correctly and how to use literature management software (EndNote, Citavi).
