Video Tutorials in English
Lynda.com – Watch. Listen. Practice. Learn.
Learn where and when you want – and set your own pace with English video tutorials from Lynda.com.
For some time already, TUM members are having the German language platform video2brain with video tutorials on software and design tools, soft skills, office applications and more at their disposal. As video2brain is being received very well, the university library has now licensed the English language training platform Lynda.com.
Update December 2019
The licence for Lynda.com expired at the end of December 2019. The platform is currently not available at TUM.

Identification of Wood Types
Xylotheque for Students
Since Februar, students are having a xylotheque at the Branch Life Renewable Resources at their disposal. A xylotheque (greek ξύλον xylon for ‚wood‘ and θήκη theque for ‚repository‘) is a collection of wood from different tree species.
In order to provide students a possibility to practice the identification of different wood types, Dr. Alexander Hölderich and Prof. Dr. Cordt Zollfrank from the Straubing Centre of Science looked for a suitable location for a xylotheque. Now there are two boxes with four sets of wood samples available at the Branch Library Renewable Resources, so that up to eight students can work with it at the same time.
At Prof. Dr. Zollfrank's Chair of Biogenic Polymers(link is external) you can also find one of the largest wood collections in Germany. Dieter Stojan, the founder of the master school for carpenters at Ebern(link is external), donated his collection of 900 different woods to the chair.
