In 1596, Warsaw became the capital of Poland. Today the city combines tradition and modernity and fulfils the function of an economic and cultural centre of Central Europe. A domineering place in the city is occupied by the Palace of Culture and Science, which shares the city space with countless modern skyscrapers. The panoramic view of Warsaw from the terrace on the 30th floor of the Palace is a big tourist attraction.

The most frequently visited tourist place is the Old Town, with the Royal Castle on the Castle Square. The Square is the beginning of the Royal Route, which heads south, towards the Palace in Wilanów, the seat of King Jan III Sobieski. When walking along the Royal Route you can admire old churches and palaces, do shopping or take a break in one of many restaurants or cafes, all of which create an unforgettable climate of the place.

Apart from the Royal Castle and the Palace in Wilanów, the Palace on the Water– the main architectural complex in a picturesque palace and park Łazienki Królewskie - is also worth seeing. In the vicinity of the Palace there is the Theatre on the Isle, built in 1790 and the statue of Frederic Chopin, where you can listen to concerts of the composer’s music, played by young pianists.

To the Park Łazienki Królewskie adjoins The Botanical Garden and they both creates an oasis of real greenery in the very centre of the city.

It was the genius of Frederic Chopin that made Poland famous not only in Europe but in the whole music world. During your staying in Warsaw you have a greet occasion to get acquainted with the Chopin’s music and biography of the Composer.

At first you can visit one of the most modern museums in Warsaw – The Fryderyk Chopin Museum. The Museum is specially designed to meet preferences of the visitors. Because of the possibility to choose the level of narration, the Museum will meet the expectations of various types of visitors, no matter what age or knowledge of the subject they’ve already possessed. The elements of the audiovisual exposition have been designed in such a way, so that each and every visitor finds something exactly for oneself. Nearby you can also see the Baroque Church where Chopin used to play and visit the Holy Cross Church where the urn with Frederick Chopin’s heart reposes.

Frederic Chopin was born in 1810 in Żelazowa Wola, a village on the Utrata River. Presently it has become a museum surrounded by a large garden. All rooms have been restored to period perfection and contain a collection of family portraits and other Chopin’s memorabilia including music manuscripts and a cast of his left hand. Afterwards, it is also worth seeing the Brochów, a typical Mazovian village with a Renaissance basilica, the place of Chopin’s parents wedding and the baptism of Frederic.

The Warsaw Rising Museum was opened during the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of the Rising during the World War II. It is a tribute paid by the residents of Warsaw to those who fought and died for independent Poland. The exhibition displays all aspects of the battle as well as everyday life in Warsaw against the background of the German Nazi occupation. It also explains the complicated international situation of that time, including the communist terror after the end of World War II.

It has been originally designed and it surrounds visitors with pictures, light and sounds. Interior design and use of multimedia effects show the reality from the times of the Rising. The sightseeing route presents the chronology of events and leads through thematic rooms. A landmark of the museum is a 35-metre tower with the symbol of Fighting Poland.

Kraków is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, built by generations of artists of romanticism, renaissance, baroque and modern art. Until 1596, Kraków was the capital of Poland and in 1978 the centre of the city was put on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. During your stay in Kraków, you should see the Royal Castle (Wawel) and the Wawel Cathedral, the place where for almost 100 years Polish kings were crowned and buried. An important point on the tourist map of Kraków is the Market Square – the largest mediaeval city square in Europe, with numerous restaurants and clubs, visited by many tourist groups from all over the world. You can also visit Sukiennice in the centre of the square, where you can buy souvenirs and regional products, as well as the Saint Mary’s Church from the 14th/15th century with a beautiful altar created by Wit Stwosz.

Only 10 km away from Kraków there is Wieliczka, whose fame is connected with an almost one-thousand-year-old salt mine. It is the only monument of this type in the world. There are over 20 underground levels, connected by two-kilometre passages, where you can admire rooms, chapel and sculptures carved in salt. It is also worth tasting Polish cuisine in an underground restaurant.

The Tricity, an urban complex extending along the Bay of Gdansk, is formed by the city of Gdansk, the adjacent seaside spa of Sopot and the harbour city of Gdynia. Each of the cities making up the Tricity offers a different atmosphere. Gdansk has a rich heritage of material culture, while the lively Sopot and Gdynia are proof of the economic spirit of Pole. Moreover for Pole Gdansk carries also considerable historic significance, because this is the place where World War II began in September 1939.

Gdansk is a paradise for visitors, with its historic charm intact despite the heavy toll of World War II. The Medieval St. Mary’s Church, Poland’s largest church, towers majestically over the city. Neptune’s fountain stands in front of the late-Gothic Artus Court, one of the most impressive buildings. Visitors float year-round to the town famous for its amber, architecture, and smooth Hevelius beer.

Sopot is an international health resort and a cultural centre. People came here for rest, recreation and entertainment. The Sopot’s main pedestrian mall leads tourists to Poland’s longest pier and the sandy beach. Sopot is also known for its International Song Festival and a great number of sports and cultural events.

Gdynia is an important centre of naval economy, international trade, science and academic education, culture, tourism in the north part of Poland. The panoramic view of Gdynia is best admired from Mountain Kamienna. During your visit in Gdynia it is worth seeing the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium with hundreds of fauna and flora exhibits, which is located near the Southern Pier. On the Southern Pier you can also see two museum ships: the frigate Dar Pomorza and the destroyer Błyskawica.
