Monday, June 1st

Guided tour through Leuven with city guide, Dani Vandepeol (additional fee of 20 €)

A reception at Town Hall Leuven, offered by the mayor of Leuven, Louis Tobback.

The tours will start at 10.00 and 14.00 in front of the city hall and will end at 14.00 and 16.00.

Tuesday, June 2nd

Day trip to Bruges

Bruges is one of Belgium's crown jewels. It's a magnificent medieval city, also called the Venice of the North. In 2000, Unesco included the entire historical centre of Bruges on the World Heritage List. On the following website you can already catch a glimpse of Bruges: www.virtualbruges.be

Professor Raf De Keyser will accompany us on this trip. A city guide will show us around in Bruges.

Thursday, June 4th

Day trip to Brussels

Brussels, capital of Belgium and the European Union will be our host on this day.

On our way into the city of Brussels we will visit the Atomium, which was designed by the André Waterkeyn and formed the main attraction of the 1958 World exhibition. Up till now it's the most remarkable landmark of the Brussels skyline. On a clear day you can even spot the Atomium from the 'Kesselse berg', the highest point of Leuven.

After this we will visit the Victor Horta Museum (www.hortamuseum.be). Victor Horta is one of the most important and famous Art Nouveau architects. No need to explain he is one of Belgium's glories.

After lunch we will spend the afternoon visiting the very heart of Brussels with e.g. the 'grand place', the famous statue of 'Manneken Pis' and the park near the Royal Palace.

Frédéric Brodkom, campus librarian of the Science and Technology Library of the Université Catholique de Louvain, will be our guide on this day trip.
