  1. By air
    As Belgium is situated in the heart of Europe and is home to the headquarters of both European Union and NATO, there’s no doubt that Belgium is being well served by numerous airlines. Brussels Airport handles about 1 to 1.5 million passengers a month, about 18 million passengers a year. All information on Brussels International Airport can be found on this website: http://www.brusselsairport.be/en/ There is no air departure tax.
    There is a direct connection from Brussels Airport Railway Station to Leuven (arrival in Leuven within 15 minutes). There’s also an indirect connection (arrival in Leuven within 35 minutes). A one way ticket costs 3.30 € (Euro)/ person. Please note that the train has to stop in Leuven / Louvain and not in Louvain-La-Neuve.

  2. By train
    People travelling from neighbouring countries can choose to come by train as an alternative for flying. There are several high speed train connections serving Brussels South Railway Station:

    At Brussels South Railway Station you have several connections an hour to Leuven (during weekends and on official holidays at least three). Duration can vary depending on the number of stops between Brussels and Leuven. The direct connection brings you to Leuven within 25 minutes. Try to avoid the trains marked as L-trains (Local train, will take about 45 minutes to arrive in Leuven) A one way ticket costs 4.10 € (Euro)/ person.

    Attention! For those who will be arriving on Monday, June 1st please keep in mind that this is an official holiday in Belgium (Whit Monday). This means that public transport will be working according to their Sunday time schedule.
