Dr Carol Tenopir

Dr Carol Tenopir will talk about “Measuring and Increasing the Value of Academic Library Services”.

Her areas of teaching and research include: information access and retrieval, electronic publishing, and the information industry. She is the author of five books, including, Communication Patterns of Engineers, winner of the American Society for Engineering Education, Engineering Libraries Division 2005 Best Publication Award, (IEEE/Wiley InterScience, 2004) with Donald W. King.

Dr. Tenopir has published over 200 journal articles, is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, and for 28 years wrote the “Online Databases” column for Library Journal. She is the recipient of the 2009 Award of Merit from the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIST), the 2002 ASIST Research Award, and the 1993 ASIST Outstanding Information Science Teacher Award.

 

 

 

Dr Rafael BallBall
Director of the University Library Regensburg, Germany

Dr Ball is addressing the issues of Bibliometrics.

Dr Rafael  Ball’s major priorities of the practical and theoretical work are library management, scholarly communication, scientometrics and the development of new digital library services. 

He has authored numerous national and international books and papers, including Bibliometric analysis – A new business area for information professionals in libraries? (Scientometrics 2006, 66, 3.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Emeritus Professor Tom Cochrane TC photo

Emeritus Professor Tom Cochrane is currently Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia. He was formerly, (until retiring from the position in December 2013), Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Vice-President) at QUT, heading a Division which combines the services of the Libraries, Information Technology Services, eLearning Services, Learning Environments and Technology Services and QUT Printing Services in the one structure.

In his current role, Professor Cochrane’s external duties include:  Director, Australian Digital Alliance; Member, Board of Queensland Museum; Member, Advisory Board of Knowledge Unlatched (UK); Member, Board of Enabling Open Scholarship (Europe). In 2013 external appointments also included Director, Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation; Member, Publications Board of CSIRO; Member, Advisory Committee of the Australian Law Reform Commission 2012-2013; and Member, Book Industry Collaborative Council Scholarly Book Publishing Expert Reference Group (ERG);

Professor Cochrane is a Director on the Board of bluebox, QUT’s technology transfer and commercialisation company, and is co-leader of the Creative Commons project for which QUT is the institutional partner for Australia. This project, together with other open access initiatives locally based at QUT, signals a long standing commitment to access to knowledge, and to research output worldwide.

 

 

 

Mr Mikko HyppönenHyppönen
Chief Research Officer, F-Secure, Finland

Mr. Hyppönen will talk about Information Security.

Mr. Hyppönen has assisted law enforcement in USA, Europe and Asia on cybercrime cases. Mr. Hyppönen, born in 1969, was selected among the 50 most important people on the web by the PC World magazine and was included in the FP Global 100 Thinkers list. See more: mikko.hypponen.com
