Our barrier-free digital routing system (= RoSy) is now available at the entrance area of the Branch Library Main Campus. It shows you the way to your destination on a basic 2D map and even more comprehensible in a photorealistic 3D environment.
RoSy helps you to find your way around our rooms and services: Where are the lockers? How do I get to the textbook collection? On which shelf do I find the book that I want to borrow? Which courses are coming up this week?
What offers RoSy?
You can select the following functions on a touch display in the reading room:
- routing to the exact shelve location of books or subject areas
- routing to service areas (Point of Interest = POI), e.g. lockers or group study rooms
- list of upcoming library events, e.g. webinars or guided tours
Simply enter the shelfmark of the book or select a point of interest. And off we go – RoSy starts the 3D navigation. With the help of integrated QR codes, you can get the information on your mobile phone, e.g. call up the link to the online course registration.
RoSy is a pilot project for digital routing systems at the University Library. After an evaluation phase, it will be decided whether it will be expanded to our other branch libraries. The system, project name TUM Wayfinder, was developed and implemented with the agency Baro Pfannenstein using technical solutions from the company NavVis.
