The Open Access publication “Thomas Mann – In der Brandlandschaft der Demokratie” will be released by TUM.University Press on 17 July 2026, marking the conclusion of an interdisciplinary TUM project. A book launch for the new volume will take place on 20 July 2026.

mediaTUM is the publication server of the Technical University of Munich. The university bibliography, academic publications, and much more can be made available here in Open Access. Due to maintenance work on the operating system, the platform will be temporarily unavailable on 7 July 2026.

The research information system TUMFIS enables TUM researchers to export publications to ORCID. Once set up, publicly visible publication records from the TUMFIS profile are automatically synchronized with the researcher’s ORCID iD on a regular basis.

The research information system TUMFIS now includes a new feature called “Equipment”. This data area allows the systematic recording of research devices and other infrastructures, such as microscopes, particle accelerators, or genomics platforms, along with details on availability and access.

Researchers at TUM can continue to benefit from numerous open access agreements with publishers in the coming year. The Publish & Read contracts with Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, IEEE, the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and Oxford University Press (OUP) have been extended through 2026. Funding is provided jointly by the TUM Executive Board, the University Library, as well as TUM’s research institutes and schools.

An increasing number of researchers at TUM are publishing their work in Open Access. Thanks to comprehensive agreements with publishers and the Publication Fund, the proportion of Open Access publications at TUM has increased significantly.
