King Midas's city, "Gordion"

We will start our journey to Gordion at 8.00 am. in the morning. The journey to Gordion will take around 2,5 hours.
The city of the king Midas, Gordion is 75 km west of Ankara. This 9th century B.C. Phrygian site is famous with its monumental burials called Tumuli. The largest Tumulus is approximately 300 meters in diameter and 55 meters in height. The well-known legends of Golden Touch and the Gordion Knot were told here for centuries and passed from generation to generation. It is believed that Alexander the Great cut through the knot here with his sword in the winter of 334/333 B.C. There is a museum that is full of handcrafts and burial gifts found at the site as well. We are going to take our lunch boxes with us and enjoy a picnic while we are visiting the historical city of Gordion. Completing our journey we will return back to Ankara.
