Daily Tour to Hittite Capital Hattusas
Today
we will leave Ankara early at 8.00 a.m to visit the capital of Hittites. Our journey
to Hattusas will take around 3.5 hours. The earliest traces of man found at Hattusas
date from Paleolithic times. However, the first substantial evidence of permanent
occupation is from the third millennium BC. This important site offers its Lion
Gate, city walls, King's Gate, a number of temples to the eyes of the visitors.
Yazilikaya (inscribed rock) consists of a temple and two narrow ravines whose
walls are covered with reliefs. This
national sanctuary of the Hittite Empire is an open air natural rock shrine full
of bas-reliefs which consists of 66 figures and represent 63 deities of the Hittite
pantheon carved in the reign of Tutalya IV (1250-1220 BC). Our lunch will be served
in a small restaurant called Aşıkoğlu. The menu is designed specially in order
