There Is Something About Electronic Resources

After a brief introduction to the University of Toronto and its Libraries, the presentation shows the evolution of the electronic services at the university. It begins by showing several of the transitions that the service has gone through and then it attempts to show the impact that the service has had on the collection development in the library. The presentation then moves on to discuss the impact on the users - the number of downloads, where the users are when they access and when they do it. The presentation then switches gears to discuss the local loading initiative that is operated by the University of Toronto Library on behalf of the other 19 universities in the province of Ontario, Canada. It discusses what are believed to be the advantages of local loading such as reliable response time, secure archiving, integration of resources, linking and the innovations that this service makes possible..
